About Us
Skolnick Photo Albums & Frames has been in business (picture framing) since 1937, first at the original location in Detroit and then at its second and present location in Madison Heights, MI. It was originally started by the Skolnick family, who, over the years, watched their business grow to the point that they decided that they needed more space. Hence, they moved to Madison Heights, MI.
In 1983, David Sandler (an educator by trade) purchased the business and the building. Under his leadership and innovative ideas he developed the business that grossed an all time high in 2001. It was in 1985, Mr. Sandler added wedding albums to the business as a compliment to picture framing. In 2005, Mr Sandler decided to retire and sold the business to Anthony Cebrian. Mr. Cebrian worked his entire career for an automotive supplier before retiring as the V.P. of Marketing and Sales. The business is equally divided into two segments: Custom Frames and Wedding Albums. The picture frames are sold to both wholesale and retail customers; they are manufactured both on site and off site (subcontractor). Skolnick Photo Frames specializes in custom frames and has the largest inventory of completed frames in the Metro Detroit area. The wedding albums are sold strictly to professional photographers based on distribution agreements with six of the leading picture album manufacturers, Taprell Loomis, Album X Corporation, Leather Album Design, Top Flight, Romanco and Renaissance The Book. Skolnick is one of three distributors for Taprell Loomis, a Chilcote Company offering the highest quality products available on the market today. |
